Dr.-Ing. Smrutiranjan Parida is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at IIT Bombay, specializing in corrosion analysis, alloy development, smart and functional coatings, galvanized coatings, and nanomaterials for corrosion mitigation.
He has published over 90 papers in international journals and conferences, holds three patents, and authored two book chapters on coatings and atmospheric corrosion (Springer). Prof. Parida has supervised sixteen Ph.D. students, six postdoctoral fellows, and numerous M.Tech. students.
He has developed academic curricula, training modules, and study materials on corrosion for the industry, and organized multiple QIP, CEP, and industrial workshops on corrosion and coatings.
Prof. Parida received the prestigious “S.K. Seshadri Memorial MASCOT National Award – 2021” from the Electrochemical Society of India for outstanding contributions in corrosion. He is also a recipient of the AMPP India Excellence in Corrosion Technology award 2024, DAAD fellowship from Germany, recognizing his global research impact in corrosion science and engineering.
