Dr. Supratik Roychowdhury is Head of the Corrosion Engineering Section, Materials Science Division at BARC, and Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute. He joined BARC in 1998 after his B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering, and he received M.Tech. (2005) and Ph.D. (2011) degree from IIT Bombay.
He has over 25 years of experience and his expertise include stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen embrittlement, high-temperature oxidation, material selection, and failure analysis for the nuclear industry. He has supervised a number of M.Tech. and Ph.D. theses at HBNI and delivered lectures on corrosion science and engineering.
Dr. Roychowdhury has published extensively in reputed national and international journals. His awards include AMPP Fellow (2022), Marie-Curie COFUND research grant from the European Commission for postdoctoral research at PSI, Switzerland (2013–2015), NIGIS Corrosion Awareness Award for Excellence in Corrosion Science and Technology (2012), and the DAE Homi Bhabha Gold Medal for Young Engineer (2008).
